A quick note from me.

· By Liam Mulryan · 3 min read

Hi,

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard that Brillband is becoming part of Olilo.

I wanted to write this myself because, honestly, hearing that your broadband provider is changing can feel a bit unsettling. You chose Brillband. You didn’t choose Olilo.

I’m not going to pretend otherwise, and I’m definitely not going to write three paragraphs of corporate fluff claiming this is an “exciting journey” you somehow signed up for. You didn’t.

That means we don’t automatically get your trust simply because your service is moving across to us. We have to earn it.

Olilo exists because I got fed up with the way broadband companies operate. Vague pricing, hidden catches, support scripts, and carefully worded answers that somehow say loads while explaining absolutely nothing.

So we built the opposite.

Around here we’re radically transparent. We talk openly about what we’re building, what we’re changing, what breaks, and how we’re fixing it. If we mess something up, we’ll tell you. If something takes longer than expected, we’ll tell you. If there’s a problem on our network, you’ll probably know before you’ve even noticed it.

Put simply, we’re Broadband without the Bullshit.

That isn’t just something we thought looked good on the website. It’s how we expect everyone at Olilo, myself included, to behave every single day.

We’re also massive geeks.

Olilo was built by the sort of people who become the resident tech support in every family. You know the one. The person everyone rings when the WiFi stops working. The one who gets the call because “the internet’s broken”, only to discover someone unplugged the router. The one who somehow ends up fixing the printer on Christmas Day because nobody else can.

That’s us.

The difference is, we genuinely love this stuff. Networks, fibre, routers, servers… we could happily spend hours talking about them. But we also know most people couldn’t care less, and that’s completely fine.

We built Olilo by geeks, for everyone.

Whether you just want Netflix to work every evening or you’re running a home lab that looks like NASA Mission Control, you deserve the same thing: reliable broadband, honest answers and support from people who actually know what they’re talking about.

As for what’s changing…

Honestly? Hopefully not much.

Your broadband will continue working, your existing service and pricing will be honoured, and we’ll keep you updated as everything moves across. Our goal is for this to be so uneventful that, in a few months’ time, you’ll barely remember it happened.

One thing I do want you to know is that you’re not just another account number being imported into a billing system.

Behind every connection is a person. A family. Someone working from home. Kids doing homework. Someone trying to watch Netflix after a long day. Or someone shouting at the WiFi because apparently that makes it go faster.

That’s why we care so much about getting this right.

I’m also not going to promise everything will always be perfect. Broadband occasionally goes wrong. Routers have bad days. Software has bugs. Sometimes somebody, usually me, has an idea that sounded much better on a whiteboard.

What I can promise is that we’ll be honest about it, we’ll take ownership, and we’ll work properly to put it right. No hiding. No finger pointing. No corporate nonsense.

I’ve also set up liam@olilo.co.uk because I think it’s important you have a direct way to reach me. If you’ve got questions about the move, concerns, feedback, or you just want to tell me we’re doing something daft, send me an email.

I can’t promise I’ll personally reset your router, our network engineers would probably ban me from the office, but I can promise I’ll read what you send and make sure it gets to the right people.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

More importantly, thank you for giving us the opportunity to earn your trust. We’re incredibly proud of what we’re building at Olilo, and over the coming weeks you’ll get to know us a little better.

Until then, welcome.

We’re genuinely glad you’re here.
